Rozhovor s americkou kometou jménem ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR
1) Ahoj! Mohli byste našim čtenářům v krátkosti představit historii kapely?
Illusions of Grandeur je hardrocková/metalová kapela s teatrální image. Dali jsme se dohromady roku 2015. Náš styl je směsí vlivů od moderního metalu po klasický old school metal a hard rock vzniklý v roce 2015. Vlivy IOG sahají od In This Moment, KORN, Alter Bridge, Evanescence a Avatar po Led Zeppelin a The Who.
Naše show si postupně získala legii fanoušků přezdívaných „The Siren Nation“ ze všech koutů světa, je to samozřejmě znát na našich koncertech i sledovanosti na sociálních sítích.
2) Kromě hudby samotné jsou Illusions Of Grandeur typičtí speciální živou prezentací. Je za tímto zajímavým jevištním představením nějaký konkrétní koncept?
Koncertní show, pojmenovaná „The Siren Saga“ přenese návštěvníka koncertu do jiného světa a vyprávějí příběh o bitvách Sirény. Maggie a CM založili Illusions of Grandeur v roce 2015 poté, co spolu působili asi rok nebo dva v předchozí kapele. Maggie a CM si uvědomili, že show schází teatrální rovina. Maggie a CM se spolu posadili a začali pracovat na novém konceptu jak co do stylu, tak co do spojené vizuální stránky koncertní show. A Illusions of Grandeur byli na světě.
3) Jaká je základní vize Illusion of Grandeur?
Základní myšlenkou Illusions of Grandeur je vytvoření světa a příběhu Sirény a jejích cest. Láska IOG k historii a řecké/severské mytologii že je to nejlepší střední způsob, jak vytvořit svět pro „The Siren Saga“. IOG cítí, že když posloucháte hudbu nebo vidíte živou show, měli byste být schopni se ponořit do toho okamžiku a vydat se s kapelou na vlastní cestu.
Tou základní myšlenkou, na které IOG stojí, je příběh Sirény jako mýtické postavy a její životní cesta. Máme rádi řeckou a severskou mytologii, a to se následně projevilo na celkovém konceptu vnitřního světa a příběhu Sirény. Naše muzika a živá show vás pak vtáhne doprostřed příběhu a umožní vám vydat se na cestu po stopách Sirény spolu s námi.

4) Vaše poslední album „The Siren“ způsobilo slušný rozruch, gratulujeme! Jaké máte z alba pocity? Dopadlo vše podle očekávání?
Stejně jako první album „The Songs of The Siren“ je „The Siren“ je částí příběhu Sirény a jeho pokračováním.
„The Siren vypráví druhou část ságy, kdy Siréna a IOG s ní míří do podsvětí, aby čelili výzvám a porazili hady na jejich cestě k návratu na horu Olymp.
„The Siren“ bylo nahráno hlavně v našem soukromém studiu Valley Road Recoding v Lancasteru v Pensylvánii. Vokály a další stopy byly nahrávány v několika studiích po celých Spojených státech, jako jsou Sunset Sound, Western Audio v Los Angeles a Silk studia v New Orleans, Louisiana. Kromě toho skladby Falling a Demons spoluprodukoval David Ivory v Ivory Sound Studios. Finální mix a mastering proběhly ve Valley Road Recording.
Zaznamenali jsme řadu recenzí jak na alba „The Siren“, tak na naše debutové album „The Songs of The Siren“ i na jedenáct aktuálně vydaných videí, dostupných na iTunes a YouTube, VEVO) Recenzenti oceňují různorodost projevu IOG a pokud vás naše hudba úplně neosloví, je tu ještě vizuální stránka našich koncertů a klipů. 6) Jaká je Vaše nejoblíbenější skladba z tohoto alba?
Momentálně to je „Upon my Life“, pro ideální spojení metalové a rockové formy. Tahle skladba také ukazuje současnou formu IOG. Klip k „Upon My Life“ byl pořízen na konci turné The Rise of The Demons 2022 v The Vanguard v Hamptonu, Virginia. Kromě tohoto songu jsme ještě během stejného koncertu pořídili video ještě k „Take Me Alive“.
7) Na vašich sociálních sítích jsme zaznamenali, že tvoříte nové skladby a probíhají přípravy na turné. Můžete se podělit o podrobnosti?
Nedávno jsme vydali nový singl „Midnight“. Je to pro IOG další krok vpřed, pilotní singl z připravovaného alba „The Siren Rises“, které, jak doufáme, vyjde začátkem roku 2024. „Midnight“ představuje IOG opět v odlišném světle, je to takový vstup na další, neprobádané území.

8) Máte raději studiovou práci, kdy Vám pod rukama vzniká nová deska nebo si raději užíváte kontakt s publikem a atmosféru koncertů během turné?
IOG je hlavně živá kapela. Jsme rádi ve studiu a tvoříme, ale na pódiu kapela skutečně ožívá! Koncertní show „The Siren Saga“ čerpá z našich obou koncepčních alb „The Songs of the Siren“ a „The Siren“, skladby jsou navíc doplněny a umocněny světelnou a projekční show. Fanoušci IOG známí jako The Siren Nation jsou úžasní a podporují nás jak v Americe, tak i v Evropě.
9) Před pár měsíci jste vydali své poslední video k singlu „Midnight“. Skvělá práce! Je na cestě nějaké další video?
V roce 2024 vyjde nové album IOG „The Siren Rises pt1: Raven Witch“, které bude pokračovat v ságách z předchozích dvou alb a posouvá Sirénu dále do bitvy s hady.
10) Díky moc za rozhovor! A otázka na závěr: Můžeme se na Vás v dohledné době těšit i v České republice?
Rádi bychom přijeli do České republiky a navíc se vrátili na Ukrajinu a do Německa během The Siren Rises Tour 2024.
The Siren Tour pokračuje po zbytek roku 2023 do roku 2024. IOG během turné dokončují své třetí album The Siren Saga „The Siren Rises“, jehož vydání lze očekávat na přelomu 2024-2025.

Illusions of Grandeur is a Hard Rock/Metal Theatrical band, IOG’s music is a mix of influences from modern metal to classic old school metal and hard rock formed in 2015. IOG’s influences range from: In This Moment, KORN, Altar Bridge, Evanescence and Avatar to Led Zeppelin and The Who.
Illusions of Grandeur’s fierce and energetic live show has gained them a legion of fans dubbed “The Siren Nation” who follow them worldwide, at live shows, and on social media.
- Except the awesome music, Illusions Of Grandeur have also and a very special performance on stage! Is there any concept behind this interesting stage performance?
Illusions of Grandeur’s stage show “The Siren Saga” transport the concerts to another world telling the story of the battles of “The Siren”. Maggie and CM formed Illusions of Grandeur in 2015 after they had been touring in a rock band together for about year or two.
Maggie and CM realized that an element of entertainment was missing from the show, theatrics. Maggie and CM sat down and planned out what they would want to hear and see at a live show and the styles of music that would best focus that vision. Illusions of Grandeur was born.
- What is the vision of your band?
The idea of Illusions of Grandeur is to create a world and tell the story of “The Siren” and her journeys. IOG’s love of both history and Greek/Norse Mythology felt that this was the best medium way to create a world for “The Siren Saga.” IOG feels that when listening to music or seeing a live show you should be able to immerse yourself in that moment and take a journey of your own with the band.

- Your last album “The Siren” made a big noise out there! Congratulations! How do you feel about this release? Was something that, you have wanted in a long time?
Like Illusions of Grandeur’s 1st album “the Songs of The Siren”, “The Siren” album is a continuation of the overall Siren Saga. The new album “The Siren tells the 2nd part of the story as The Siren and Band head into the underworld to faces the challenges and defeat hades on their quest to return The Siren to Mount Olympus.
Illusions of Grandeur’s latest album “The Siren” was recorded mainly in their private studio, Valley Road Recoding in Lancaster, PA. Vocal overdubs and additional tracking were done at multiple studios across the United States such as Sunset Sound and Western Audio in Los Angles and Silk studios in New Orleans, LA. Additionally the tracks Falling, and Demons were Co-produced by David Ivory at Ivory Sound Studios. The final mixing and mastering were done at Valley Road Recording.
Illusions of Grandeur has received many reviews of both the albums “The Siren” and our debut album “The Songs of The Siren” and 11 videos in release currently available on iTunes and YouTube, VEVO) Reviewers see the many sides of the band, if you are not really into our music there are the theatrics and acting done both live and in the video. Illusions of Grandeur have been told many times that there is a little something for everyone in what IOG does.

- Which is your favorite song from this album?
I would have to say “Upon my Life” because of the mix of metal and rock also the tempo really shows off the bands playing.
IOG’s “Upon My Life” video was shot live at the tail end of The Rise of The Demons tour 2022 at The Vanguard in Hampton, VA. Upon My Life captures a section of the bands live show. Additionally, the “Take Me Alive” video was shot at the same show.
- We saw on your social media that you create new music and you prepare yourselves for a tour. Tell us more about these two cases!
Yes we recently released a new single “Midnight” it is the next step for Illusions of Grandeur, the 1st single from the forthcoming album “The Siren Rises” which the band hopes to have in release by early 2024. “Midnight” again takes the band musically into unfamiliar territory.

- What do you think is better? Making an album or hit the road?
Illusions of Grandeur is a live band. We love being in the studio and creating, but on the love stage is where the band really comes alive! Illusions of Grandeur’s live show “The Siren Saga” draws its story line from the concept albums “the Songs of the Siren prt1” and “The Siren prt2”. Acting out the songs and story on stage amidst a light and video show. IOG’s fan’s known as The Siren Nation are amazing, supporting the both in America and Europe.
- A few months ago, you released your last video for the single “Midnight”. Excellent work! Is there any new video on the way?
2024 will see the release of Illusions of Grandeur’s “The Siren Rises pt1: Raven Witch” which will continue The Siren Saga from the previous two albums, taking The Siren further into battle with hades.

We would love to come to Czech Republic and additionally return to the Ukraine and Germany during The Siren Rises Tour 2024
Illusions of Grandeur’s The Siren Tour continues through the remainder of 2023 into 2024. IOG are currently while tour producing their 3rd album the next story in The Siren Saga “The Siren Rises” which the band looks to have out in 2024-2025.
